My son always reminds me that there is value in just hanging out together with nothing to do or accomplish. If you feel the need to always be doing something, maybe it’s time to un-couple this idea that hanging out is the equivalent of wasted time.
Instead think of hang out time as an investment in relationship capital.
Hanging out together builds trust, familiarity and life-long bonds. Most people – at the end of their lives, never wish they had done MORE… universally – they wish they had done less. Those who love you want to spend time with you. Create a night for it.. whether you have a family or not – call it idle time, or sanity time, or recharge time. Turn off the electronics and enjoy a fun game, or a cookout. Take a walk, a run or ride a bike – or just sit in a park or open area.
Take a look at your daily routine and set aside some time to hang out.
