This is typical of mompreneurs and women in general. To avoid going out big – or being too committed, many of us ‘back into’ our businesses. We set up our ‘office’ on top of our dining room (or kitchen) table – in the center of everything and expect that we’ll be successful. NOT. You have my permission to legitimize your business. I like to use the metaphor of a pizza restaurant for comparison purposes. Would you open a pizza restaurant without an oven, a sink, coolers, or a kitchen? So many mompreneurs run ‘illegitimate’ businesses for years (yeah – YEARS) before they come out of hiding, and begin to invest in the tools, equipment and the resources they need to succeed.
Most of my female clients (and especially those who are moms) struggle MOST with asking for and setting up the support structures they need. It is the single biggest hurdle to cross when launching, juggling and eventually being able to effectively create profitable businesses and fulfilling careers!
