If you’re in burnout – it’s time to get some perspective. “Perspective” is another term for seeing the big picture and sometimes the only way to see the big picture is to step out of the forest.
So go ahead and step away from your computer – RIGHT NOW…
Stretch, breathe, take a break, go outside and get away.
While walking, think about what you need most RIGHT NOW…
Now, pay special attention if something really indulgent pops into your head (like – I need a nap, a massage or a pedicure… or a vacation…??? ) when you get clear on what you need most right now, it’s time to take action.
For whatever your indulgent feeling was, go for it – take action! BOOK IT! DO IT!
Come back and see where you are.
Sometimes a good healthy dose of perspective can help you think about what you need most RIGHT NOW…
If when you’re battling burnout, this will not be a one time exercise. It’s good to make a regular practice of doing whatever you need to do to gain perspective.
Whether it’s reading, exercising, being outside in nature, doing crafts with your kids (or scrapping with your friends), gardening, cooking or calling your mom…. getting perspective is the best way I know to stay in an open, positive and abundant mindset.
So Celebrate, Breathe, Relax, Hike, Run, Ride, Climb, Garden – Enjoy – and stay present to what is right before your eyes.
