Do you ever wonder what it takes to be a mompreneur who juggles it all? Especially as schedules become packed and things heat up for the holidays… In order to be successful, mompreneur’s have to become pretty darned good at managing what they need to accomplish in the time they have, and often times this means putting the brakes on all the hub-bub and simply focus on completing one thing at a time.
Plug Your Time Drains and Gaps
A simple practice for you to increase your focus is to begin by tracking the time you spend on repeatable tasks daily. Once you collect your ‘data’ your next step will be to analyze what you’re doing.
When you track time use over several days, you may begin to see patterns emerge that are indicators of time-management habits: How you spend your time daily. For instance, you may notice that you spend periods mid-day on social media, or that you are more productive in the early parts of the day, or perhaps you notice that you prefer busy-tasks during light hours… Whatever is the case, when you track yourself and your behaviors over time, you’ll start to notice and catch yourself in the behavioral patterns that bring you comfort.
If you step back and look at those tasks categorically, then quantify your time… it will help you see where you have time gaps, and where you are running into trouble.
Once you figure out where you’re spending time you can assess whether or not that time is well spent. When you uncover the areas in which you spend time, or the tasks upon which you spend time that you no longer desire to do – then it’s time for you to put on the brakes, set up boundaries – and let these tasks go.
In the places where you know you are wasting your time (and NOT feeling good about the time you spend) you must put in planning, routine, schedules, and support that help you get things done in an easier way.
