For your home and family to run successfully you need regularly scheduled routines to get most tasks accomplished consistently.
I know, I’ve hear it all: Routine is boring, monotonous, and confining! (Believe me – I’m a free spirit too!) And that may be true – BUT that is precisely why routines and regular schedules work well…. THEY HELP YOU MAINTAIN YOUR SANITY!

Routines can be created around personal tasks such as chores, food shopping, home clean-up, bed times, weekends, friends, extended family, laundry.
Establishing a set way to achieve repeatable tasks allows them to take less of a forefront. For instance, I used to do laundry every time I saw the laundry hamper full. I seemed to always have laundry in one stage or another in my home. Some in the dryer, some folded ready to be put away, some dirty… When I decided to make Sunday and Thursday my “laundry days” this all changed. I did a few loads each of those days – and that task became much more manageable. All I had to do was make sure I made time for it on the scheduled day – and if I didn’t I knew I could postpone it one day and still be okay.
Routines can also be designed for regular business tasks such as: invoicing, filing, following up, planning, blogging, writing content for your newsletter, keeping in touch, and whatever else you do regularly in your business.

Today’s mompreneur sanity assignment is to make a list of all the personal tasks that can be turned into routines, and all the business tasks that can be turned into routines. What can you ‘chunk’ together to create a routine that can be scheduled and managed regularly so it is completed on time?
