(WARNING – The next statement will not THRILL those spontaneous mompreneur readers).
For your home and family to run successfully you need regularly scheduled routines to get most tasks accomplished consistently.
I know, I’ve hear it all: Routine is boring, monotonous, and confining! (Believe me – I’m a free spirit too!) And that may be true – BUT that is precisely why routines and regular schedules work well…. THEY HELP YOU MAINTAIN YOUR SANITY!
[Tweet “Falling short on time? Examine your routines to enhance #productivity”]
- Do you have routines that are in place to help you manage your day to day operations?
- How are your systems working?
- What do you do cyclically that you can systematize to save your time and effort?
- Try tweaking your routines to better fit into your definition of a balanced lifestyle.
Routines can be created around personal tasks such as chores, food shopping, home clean-up, bed times, weekends, friends, extended family, laundry.
Establishing a set way to achieve repeatable tasks allows them to take less of a forefront. For instance, I used to do laundry every time I saw the laundry hamper full. I seemed to always have laundry in one stage or another in my home. Some in the dryer, some folded ready to be put away, some dirty… When I decided to make Sunday and Thursday my “laundry days” this all changed. I did a few loads each of those days – and that task became much more manageable. All I had to do was make sure I made time for it on the scheduled day – and if I didn’t I knew I could postpone it one day and still be okay.
Routines can also be designed for regular business tasks such as: invoicing, filing, following up, planning, blogging, writing content for your newsletter, keeping in touch, and whatever else you do regularly in your business.
