Is it possible to work like you’re on vacation?
One of the best ways to rejuvenate your mind and body is to take a vacation.
You know leaving work behind for a week or two allows you to relax. You plan for this. If you work at all, you work differently. Maybe you attend to a few urgent tasks while enjoying some much needed time off. Any other tasks you leave until you return to work, or you delegate to someone else before you leave.

What would happen if you worked like this every day?
Imagine this scenario: Every day is spent working on tasks that only YOU can do – AND you only work on tasks that actually grow your business. You consistently tackle your #1 most important tasks each day. How much more productive would you be? How much more effective? And how much more time would be available to spend on things that matter to you the most?
Having trouble deciding which of those tasks are the ones you’d attend to if you were actually on vacation? Write down everything you need to complete over the next 48 hours. Include everything – every task, every appointment, every commitment. Put a check mark next to every activity that only you can do. Put a star next to any item that directly lines up with your business goals. Then work only on the items that have check marks and stars! These are your most important tasks that only you can do!!!
What do you do about those other tasks? Do these tasks really need to be completed? Be strategic here! Not every task on a to-do list is worthy of completion. Once you evaluate each task, you can effectively delegate the remaining tasks. Play to your strengths, do only what you can do and delegate the rest.
Being in control of your day isn’t about time management – it is about choice management. Working like you’re on vacation every day is about following a structure that works and making choices.
In theory, this is a great idea! But, how do you remember to delegate tasks consistently? One way to remember to work like you are on vacation is to create a “don’t do” list to remind you of those tasks that you should eliminate, reduce or delegate. Each day, as you prepare for the next day, check your list!
Imagine the possibilities as you consistently focused on your highest value tasks …
- Business growth!
- Additional leisure time!
- Reduced stress, anxiety, and overwhelm!
Look over your task list for tomorrow. Would you spend time on each of these tasks if you were on vacation? If the answer is NO – delegate the task NOW!
